As we can see, Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 version 4.2 has been improved with more supported video formats like FLV, F4V, VOB, AVCHD video (mts, m2ts). There was no option for MPEG movie in version 4.0. However, in version 4.2, the option shows up again which made it compatible with MPEG movies.

However, there are some video formats not supported by Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. Files in MKV, DAT, TiVo, RMVB, RM formats could be the source file for video editing. Download and install the plug-in, Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere, and run CS4. You will find it compatible with DAT, RMVB, etc.

For Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 users, who have not upgraded to CS4 yet, you can also install Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere, and then you will find Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 compatible with FLV, F4V, VOB, MTS, M2TS, DAT, MKV, TiVo, RM, RMVB files.

You may get FLV video, MTS, M2T, M2TS, MPG, DAT, VOB, RMVB or MKV that is not supported by Adobe Premiere now. Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere is an import plugin to help you import the files without transcoding or conversion.

Here are the steps for you to import video to Premiere Pro.

Step1. Run Adobe Premiere.
It is recommended that you exit Adobe Premiere while installing Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere. To activate the plugin with Adobe Premiere, you shall run Adobe Premiere Pro for initialization after installing the import plugin.

After installation, Adobe Premiere is the initial system to import file, and the plug-in will be used if the file is not originally supported by Adobe Premiere. For example, if you have Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 on your machine and installed Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere for the version, the FLV file with H.263 will be imported by Adobe Premiere. The FLV file with H.264 will be imported by Moyea plug-in.
You can also set priority to Moyea plug-in for importing file. Go to Start > All Programs > Moyea > Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere > Configuration GUI and check the box for Give priority to Moyea Importer plug-in when importing file. Moyea plug-in will be used to import supported files for you.

Step2. Create a project or open a project file.
Adobe Premiere Pro works with project file. Just create one by specifying the project name and folder, or open a saved project as you like.

Step3. Run the integrated file browsers in Adobe Premiere Pro.
There are several ways to open the file browser. One is to use the File menu by choosing File > Import. You can also right click on the Project window, and choose Import from the right-click menu. Another way is to double click on the Project window and the file browser will pop up.

Step4. Browse video.
The default file type is "All Supported Media", so that you can import files without worrying about the formats. Alternatively, you can choose the file format from the file type drop-down list, and select the format you want to display in the browser, e.g. "Moyea Importer Plug-in (*.vob)".

The video will be soon loaded to Adobe Premiere Pro, and you can enjoy the editing and composing in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Please note that you shall install Adobe Premiere before installing the plug-in.

If you have two versions of Adobe Premiere Pro installed, the import plug-in will list two versions with checkbox in front of the version name. You can check the box and click Next button to install the plugin. When only one version is listed, you can install the plug-in by checking the box for the listed version. If the version you prefer is not on the list, you can specify the version of your Adobe Premiere with the following steps.

Step 1. Browse the plug-in folder of your Adobe Premiere, which is used by Adobe Premiere to locate related plug-in files.
Step 2. Browse the installation folder of your Adobe Premiere. The default installation folder of Adobe Premiere is in the folder like "system disk:\Program Files\Adobe\version name". Suppose that your Premiere version is Pro 1.0 and the system disk is C, with the default installation, you will get the installation folder at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Premiere Pro\

Generally speaking, the plug-in folder is in the language folder of the Plug-ins folder under installation folder.

However, some versions may include language folders for plug-in. For example, if there is a folder for English, you may find Plug-ins under the installation folder, and en_US in the Plug-ins folder.
If the version is Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, the plug-in folder is within "system disk:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\CS3\MediaCore".

If the version is Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, the plug-in folder is within "system disk:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\CS4\MediaCore".

If you still can not find the plug-in folder for your Adobe Premiere, have a look at your Registry Editor. Choose Start > Run, and enter "regedit" to open the Registry Editor. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\ and click on the version of Adobe Premiere. Then click CurrentVersion and you will find the name Plug-InsDir. The folder path is displayed in the data value column. Click on Plug-InsDir and you can copy the folder path.

4. Read EULA and decide to agree or not.
After clicking the Next button in the window with Adobe Premiere version, you will face the end user license agreement. Click to agree with the agreement and the Next button will be activated.

5. Specify the folder to install the plug-in.
The related files will be added to the installation folder. Click the Next button when the folder is OK for you.

6. Confirm the installation and start installing by clicking the Install button.
The setup wizard then installs Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere to the versions you choose.

If you install another version of Adobe Premiere after installing Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere, you can install the plug-in again following the steps above. Remember to check for the previous version of Adobe Premiere together with the new version. Alternatively, just follow the steps below for the new Adobe Premiere on your computer.

Step 1. Find the files: mglobal.dll and reglib.dll under the installation folder of the plug-in. Copy and paste to the installation folder of the new Adobe Premiere version.

Step 2. Find the file MoyeaImporter.prm under the installation folder of the plug-in. Copy and paste to the Plug-in folder of the new Adobe Premiere version.

Step 3. (Only to Premiere CS4 users with Adobe Encore CS4 on machine) Copy the files mglobal.dll and reglib.dll to the folder of Adobe Encore CS4. By default, Adobe Encore CS4 is installed together with Premiere CS4. If you customize the installation of Premiere CS4 without Adobe Encore CS4, you can skip this step. To find the folder of Adobe Encore CS4, just choose Start > All Programs > Adobe Encore CS4, right click on the item "Adobe Encore CS4" and choose Properties. Click Find Target button and you will be directed to the folder of Adobe Encore CS4.
