Import and Export
If you have seen the compare table of these two programs, you will find that they are quite similar at converting. The formats are all same, except that Pro 3 can output FLV without encoding and image sequences. But they are different in ways of import and export.
With Pro 2, users can import FLV files by clicking Add FLV, and select as many FLV files as they like. The files will be converted one by one in separate files. Users can skip the unwanted conversion.
If using Pro 3, users have more selections to import FLV files, by clicking Import on the tool bar, select Import from File on the Main menu, or simply drag in files from the Resource manager. This program supports merging files, so users can either import files in separate or in one sequence. Each sequence will be output as a single video. Once clicking Export, select the right output format, and click “OK”, the conversion will start immediately. By default, there will be at most 4 files being converted each time. Users can choose skip, pause, resume, and what to do after conversion while Pro 2 can only skip.
What’s more, Pro 2 doesn’t support export selected files while Pro 3 does.
Edit
By judging the interface, the two programs have same tags of effect, clip, and watermark (logo and text). But Pro 3’s is far more powerful in this aspect.
Preview: There is real-time preview on both of the two, while Pro 3 has the float window for easier editing.
Clip: There is no difference between the two programs on this point.
Effect: For Pro 2, users are only able to adjust brightness, contrast, and volume. If using Pro 3, users can not only adjust the effects above, but also deinterlace, flip, and add special effects like Emboss, BlackAndWhite, Purple, etc.
Watermark: Both of the two programs support watermark functions, but Pro 3 is more flexible on this. It can add logo or text at any time and location. The size and position of the added logo can be set by dragging, while Pro 2 does not support.
Settings
It is obvious that Pro 2 emphasizes more on output settings, since you can’t easily find the settings selection on Pro 3’s main interface. But Pro 3 do have this section. Just click Export on the tool bar and select Export or Export Selected, and the Output Settings window will pop up.
In common, both the two programs support settings of video size, bit rate, sample rate, etc. But with Pro 2, users can set video and audio codec, while Pro 3 doesn’t have the options.
Information
As more like an editing program, Pro 3 supports displaying and editing the sequence information.
Conclusion
These two programs are designed for different usages, only with the similar names. Pro 2 is mainly designed for simplifying the converting process from FLV to videos, while Pro 3 highlights editing and personalizing the videos.
For Pro 2, users can easily import, do settings, and convert the FLV files with easy steps. While Pro 3 provides more detailed editing selections besides conversion function.
So the possible users of these two programs may be different. Pro 3 is more likely to be adored by business users since it’s more powerful and can save files as project file for further editing.
Pro 2 is easier to handle and convert which will perfect meet personal users’ need.
