AVCHD (Advanced Video Codec High Definition), a high definition camcorder video format, was developed by Sony and Panasonic jointly. Currently, below manufactures are now using AVCHD for their high definition consumer camcorders and professional camcorders:
* Leica Camera
AVCHD camcorders record video at a range of resolutions, including 1080p, 1080i and 720p. AVCHD files are stored with a .mts or .m2ts file extension, depending on the camcorder brand and whether you are copying to a Mac or PC. There is no difference in the contents of the video files with the different extensions.
Sony and Panasonic developed several brand names for their professional as well as simplified versions of AVCHD, including AVCHD Lite, AVCCAM, AVCHD Pro and NXCAM.
Most video-editing software supports the AVCHD formats, such as Apple iMovie/FCP/FCP X/FCE, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Premiere Elements, Avid Media Composer, Avidemux, AVS Video Editor, Cyberlink PowerDirector 11, Windows Live Movie Maker, Sony Vegas Pro, etc. That means they require no conversion in order to import and edit the AVCHD files. However, due to the AVCHD is a very highly compressed format, which needs you own a high end computer to edit the high definition video, if your computer is older and low powered, it probably can’t recognize and edit the AVCHD video files. In this circumstance, you require the AVCHD Converter to deal with your AVCHD files.
The AVCHD Converter made by Jihosoft is able to convert almost all popular HD and SD video files on Windows PC or Mac OS X, including AVCHD(.mts, .m2ts), MXF, XAVC, TS, TP, TRP, MP4, MOV, MKV, MOD, TOD, AVI, WMV, MPG, etc. If your AVCHD files can’t be played or edited after importing to your PC or Mac, you can use the AVCHD Converter to do the conversion job. If you don’t need complex editing features, perhaps AVCHD Converter can meet your demand, which means that you can use AVCHD to trim unwanted video clips, crop black sides around video, merge different clips into one file, add special effects or watermark to video, etc. Free download the trial version, it's easy to use.
AVCHD Converter can convert and edit AVCHD video files produced by below camcorders.
